Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from the family, she was brought up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a girl, Ford was battling obsessive/compulsive disorders and anxiety caused by word associations. Ford started to become attracted to acting at the age of teenager and joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after only a few weeks, she realized it was not the right fit for her. Ford decided to apply for the Central School of Speech and Drama, finally winning a place on her fourth application. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring on Doctor Who. Ford's television debut was in the 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate appeared in television shows as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London Burning. Apart from her regular performances in the theatre, Tate also joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate began to gain attention because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
